American Red Cross Lifeguarding Certification
This blended learning course includes 6 hours of online learning and 21.5 hours of in-person instruction. Participants who successfully complete the course will receive American Red Cross Lifeguarding / First Aid / CPR / AED certification, valid for 2 years.
You’ll learn the skills needed to prevent, recognize, and respond to aquatic emergencies, while building the confidence and preparation needed to succeed as a professional lifeguard.

Pre-Requisites
- Must be at least 15 years old by the last day of class
- Must pass the pre-course swimming skills test before taking the course
- Swim 150 yards, tread water for 2 minutes without using arms, then swim an additional 50 yards
- Complete a timed swimming event that includes retrieving a 10 lb diving brick and swimming 20 yards
- Attend and participate in all course sessions

Employment Incentive
For those who complete a pre-hire interview, are selected to join the JCC lifeguarding staff, and sign our training agreement for 240 hours, the Lifeguard Training class will be free.

Class space is limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis. A waitlist will be available for full classes, but placement is not guaranteed. If space opens up, waitlisted participants will be contacted in the order they were added.
